Panther Mac OS X

Ok so I plopped a drive in the mac and started the panther install. Using the disk utility I partitioned the drive, using the Journaling MacOS filesystem and I go to install OS X. And it says it can't install it on that drive becuase the drive isn't bootable, well the apple website wasn't very helpful at all. But this guy knew what he was talking about. I just needed to restart....sheesh.

Actual error: You cannot install Mac OS X on this volume. You cannot start your computer from this volume.
