Updates to Contest and Goings on (Defcon)

#devel contest draft rules

It's contest time again, and more particularly, it's contest time for the #devel channel on irc.malvager.net

Draft Rules for the #devel contest of irc.malvager.net:


Create a tool that will either allow or otherwise encourage people in #devel to collaborate in code writing and or sharing. The platform/language can be any (within reason; if you’re not sure, ask). It will be judged subjectively by both bsdpunk and psycho on both functionality and creativity. The first place prize will be a bsdpunk t-shirt and an Arduino (or Arduino clone). The second place prize is an Arduino (or clone). If god willing a third place prize, tbd (this one is not written in stone).

Contest will be over on the 20th of July.


Draft rules are subject to change for the next week, keep updated by looking at this blog(rules will only change by minor stipulations, the spirit of the contest will remain the same).

Photoshoot Remix Contest.

I am going to have a little remix contest, winner can pick a shirt out from cafepress.com/bsdpunk. Just photoshop or GIMP or whatever one or more of the pics from here . Please choose a pic that is a part of the shoot and not one of the Photographer catching people off guard. So a t-shirt big deal, well you guys I had over 1499 page views on my flickr set last week, so you will get publicity for your sit or your blog if you put them in the description of your submission. Plus if you win you get a mention in the blog.

I am starting a flickr group called bsdpunkblog remix. You will need to join it.
Alright so I am currently uploading all the originals from my photo shoot, but because it's gigs of photos(not that many just super quality, remember you got to hit some buttons on flickr to see the original size).

So I have been seeing a few posts lie "How do I hax my school", "I want to take down my schools network", and "CRUSH SCHOOL SMASH". And I have been giving suggestions but a lot of you guys are really showing a lack of creativity. Sure deleting the NTLDR off a computer is a hoot the first time, but you guys should really shoot for the stars. I am thinking turn the computer lab into a linux computer lab. Imagine how confused the teachers would be and the students, imagine how many people would know what linux is at your school afterwards. That's a huge fucking stunt and it's a fucking cool ass stunt as well. What about setting up your teacher's email client to send pr0ns to all the teachers and parents. If your going to fuck some shit up make some goddamn NOISE! Be awesome don't just delete ntldr, with some .bat some other fucker gave you from the net. Fucking show someone YOUR A FUCKING BAD ASS. HAX0R SOME SHIXOR. Ok, now go do it.

In lieu of this Bsdpunk.blogspot.com will be sponsoring a contest in which the top 3 coolest most extravagant school hacks will get a t-shirt and of course a blog post, but most of all the feeling of accomplishing an awesome hack.

What I need from you to enter:
At least one picture of your hack, blur out all faces(you can leave your own if your brave or stupid)(That I can post)
An explanation of what the hack is and how you did it.(That I can post)
How you avoided getting caught, or how you got caught.

Optionally:
Video (I can post)
Supplemental war stories
And The name of your school, or state, or country(If you are brave or stupid)

Of course I will keep your id secret unless you otherwise state the opposite.
